Hello and welcome back! It is my honour and privilege to serve as President for the AACE Chinook Calgary Section for the 2020/21 year. Firstly, I would like to thank former President Ben Sharif and the previous Board for their leadership, hard work, and commitment during the past year.
This year certainly brings with it a plethora of challenges as it relates to navigating the unchartered waters of dealing with a global pandemic (COVID-19); and the gradual recovery of the Alberta economy which has been further impacted by this ongoing and dynamic situation.
The temporary and more troubling permanent closures of many businesses, cancellation of projects and resulting job loss will no doubt have a wide impact on families across our city, province, and country. As project control professionals we are well equipped to deal with change and the unknown. Our specialized roles demand adaptation, flexibility, and resilience.
I believe, there is no greater time to be part of our AACE Chinook Calgary Community. My hope is that you find value, purpose, and opportunity for personal and professional growth as an active member of our association. Your membership will allow you to build on professional relationships and expand your knowledge and skill base through a variety of virtual and in person events such as:
· Technical Dinner Meetings (Monthly sessions)
· Skills & Knowledge Workshops (Full Day sessions)
· Technical Lunch and Learn Sessions (1-hour sessions)
These professional networking events will allow each of us to engage collaboratively and share best practices. They will prepare us to become more proficient change agents, allowing us to deal with the ever-changing realities of our world.
Furthermore, as an active member you will receive 24-7 access to digital editions of AACE’s “Total Cost Management Framework”. You will have access to specialized technical articles in the Cost Engineering Journal, and Source Magazine. Also, as a member you will have access to over 5,000+ technical articles through the Association’s virtual library and career resources.
Our success as an organization is highly dependent upon our members participating in our events and spreading the value that AACE Chinook Calgary creates in the Project Control Community. In addition, we are committed to growing our membership base and ask for your continued support by attending events, sharing ideas and opportunities with the Board.
I value your membership and look forward to speaking with each of you throughout the coming year.
Too a successful and memorable year.
